LISTED WIN – MILEVA WINS MANIHI CLASSIC for Little Hills Pastoral Co

MILEVA
The #SABred winner of the MANIHI CLASSIC 2021
This talented 3yo filly is by Headwater from Lady Einstein and takes her record to 4 wins from just 7 starts.
Congratulations her breeders Chris Tucker and Dr Geoff Tucker of Little Hills Pastoral Company

Trainers Dan Clarken & Oopie Macgillivray originally has  Group 1 plans for Mileva going forward to the Blue Diamond Stakes in 2020 however those plans went amiss and they gave her time.

Clarken said  “We got her for $42,000 at the Adelaide Magic Millions and she broke-in without putting a foot wrong,” he added. “That’s looking a pretty cheap buy now.”

Mileva (2f Headwater – Lady Einstein by Magic Albert) is the first foal of a winning half-sister to Melbourne Group 2 winner Second Effort (Mossman).

Her price-tag was well below expectations because she wouldn’t leave her box or enter the sale-ring without a lead pony!

It was the first Listed success for jockey Anna Jordsjo who confirmed the stable has always had a big opinon of the filly “I thought this time last year we were going to have a lot of fun through the carnival but she was a bit shin-sore through her two-year-old preparation and she’s just needed that time to mature.”

The three-year-old filly will now be aimed at next month’s Listed Redelva Stakes (1100m) at Morphettville, with the Group 2 Tobin Bronze Stakes (1200m) in May also a potential target.

SA Breeders Get a Rare Result

It was a unique breeding and race winning double by Ken and Helen Smith at Morphettville last  Saturday the March 20th 2021.
It is no surprise to South Australian racing participants to see an ‘Exalted’ double, yet it was a unique for the fact the two winners came from the same dam, Exalted Beauty.
EXALTED CRAFTSMAN and EXALTED BEAST are the first two to race from the mare who has unfortunately passed.
EXALTED BEAUTY was a 4x winner  with these two winners already producing 9 wins between them.
Great supporters of SA Breeding and Racing it is lovely to see the dam having such success with SA based stallions.

Liqueuro, ridden by Jye McNeil, wins the Bendigo St Leger Trial

The Cindy Alderson-trained Liqueuro earned the right for a first attempt in stakes company after winning the $135,000 Smartline Bendigo St Leger Trial (2200m) on Saturday.

Alderson said Liqueuro, by Melbourne Cup winner Fiorente out of Galileo mare Little Darling, would have his next start in the $150,000 Listed Galilee Series Final (2400m) at Caulfield on April 10 ahead of the $200,000 Listed VRC St Leger (2800m) at Flemington on April 25.

“It (Caulfield) won’t be the right track for him – he likes a big spacious track – then we’ll assess it from there,” Alderson said.

There is a  2YO half brother by Free Eagle to follow.

Sam Hayes – A transformational week

“The support of Racing SA through increased Prizemoney and perhaps more notably the recently re-launched and financially bolstered Racing Rewards Scheme (formerly SABOIS), gave the 2021 Adelaide Magic Millions sale a new lease of life and has encouraged me (Cornerstone) to reinvest back into South Australian Racing and Breeding” declared Sam Hayes in a recent Channel 7 interview.

Breednet – $525,000 Fastnet Rock Colt Smashes Magic Millions Adelaide Record

By Tara Madgwick – Tuesday March 9

The 2021 Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale is underway and there were some serious fireworks early in the sale when Lot 22, a Fastnet Rock colt from Group I winner Small Minds was sold for $525,000.

Bred and consigned for sale by Goldin Farms, the stunning bay colt was bought by Tony Fung Investments/Annabel Neasham Racing.

A full brother to this season’s stakes-winning juvenile filly Sneaky Five and half-brother to stakes-winner Beautiful Mind, the colt would not have been out of place at any major eastern states sale and is the fifth living foal of Canny Lad’s Group I SAJC Schweppes Oaks winner Small Minds.
Goldin Farms purchased Small Minds from the Magic Millions Patinack Farm Dispersal in 2014 for $440,000 and she is now in foal to Yulong’s promising young sire Grunt after missing the previous season to Artie Schiller (USA).
